There are several types of court order, and they have various effects. A restraining order is an order from the court that mandates the abuser is not allowed to hurt you or attempt to hurt you, nor threaten you A vacate order mandates the abuser is ordered to leave the residence. This may be ordered even if the abuser owns or pays rent for the residence. If you are a parent, the court may order that you have temporary custody of any minor children remaining in your care. If you are married, the court can order the abusive spouse to pay living expenses. A money compensation order stipulates that you be compensated for expenses resulting from the abuse, such as medical expenses or lost wages. There are also other types of injunctions such as an injunction that the abuser have no contact with you, return your house keys, etc. These can be stipulated in the court order.
