Massachusetts Not Providing Affordable Mental Healthcare

In 2006, the state of Massachusetts reformed its healthcare policy to require all businesses with over 10 employees to pay them health benefits, or to pay an annual fine to the state government of up to $295 for each employee, to provide public health benefits. The new plan also included mental health coverage, but it seems that this plan has fallen through the cracks. Half of the psychologists in Boston are not accepting new patients and many require referrals from hospitals before they will see a patient.

Some of this activity may be illegal, according to the new laws. If your employer is not paying you the proper amount of healthcare benefits, or if you are being denied care from a medical professional, contact a lawyer at Kerstein, Coren & Lichtenstein LLP today. We are experts in personal and healthcare law and will help you get the care you need.
