Massachusetts District Court Dismisses Rent-A-Center Case

A recent court battle over the fine print of the Massachusetts Consumer Lease Act of 1987 was dismissed and handed over to the Massachusetts Supreme Court. The case involves Rent-A-Center's rent to own program, which it claims is, by technical definition, not a leasing agreement. This case may lead to an update of the Act and several legal changes in the state of Massachusetts, to keep this case from arising again.

In cases such as these, clever phrasing and outdated laws may allow businesses and organizations to take advantage of their customers. It is important to understand that, as a consumer, you have a certain set of rights, that the government is responsible for protecting. A case like this one is complex and may take months or even years to work out. You need the experienced legal specialists at Kerstein, Coren & Lichtenstein LLC on your side.
