Man Imprisoned for Allowing the Abuse of His Stepdaughter
A man from Springfield, Massachusetts was recently sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison for allowing his late wife to brutally beat and neglect her daughter in his house. The man, who worked as an auto mechanic, claimed that he was never present for the abuse, and that he assumed the bruising was from the psychological damage that his wife said the child possessed. The repeated beatings and denials of food left the child in a coma, on life support. After she recovered, she was made a ward of the state, where she continues to make small improvements, though she may always have severe emotional damage.
Though the man was never a part of the abuse, the fact that he let it occur under his roof was enough for the jury to convict him of a serious offense. The lawyers at Kerstein, Coren & Lichtenstein LLP are specialists in criminal law. Call them today for legal assistance. |
